Sad news - Mamie Bryden

Our Charity patron Kirsty Bryden who died aged 19yrs has by her example in the way she devoted her short life to helping seriously sick and disadvantaged children, she steered Kirstyskids.org to help hundreds of disadvantaged children over the last 11yrs.

The charity being run by volunteers has no overheads this has been a challenge for us as 100% of all cash raised goes completely to the children's welfare.

It is with great sadness that we have to announce the death of Mamie Bryden. Kirstys grandmother was our strongest fundraiser a driving force of the charity who was so loved by her local community and everyone who met her were touched by her loving kindness, personality and amazing smile.

Mamie was our strongest hardest fundraising campaigner. She turned her family home into a collection point for bric a brac. Her lock up garage which she faithfully paid the monthly rent on became a storage facility for the annual fundraising events and our charity shop. She did this for 10 years raising thousands of pounds.

Mamie while doing so was her husbands carer even getting towards her 80s she would not stop working for her grand daughter Kirstys charity.

Being diagnosed with terminal cancer Mamie having passed 80yrs got on a flight and flew to Germany to see her great grandchildren. On her return and days before her death she visited the Kirstyskids.org charity shop where she enjoyed tea and chatting to our unpaid volunteers lending her support and encouragement after having spent so much time in the driving seat of the shop when it was run from Maybole.

The funeral is at 3:30pm on Friday 17th June at Ayr crematorium.

Donations in Mamies memory can be made via the website.
